New Wilson documentary is
now nearer completion
A new four-part film documentary about the life and works of Colin Wilson is nearing completion, three parts having been finished, as of autumn 2022, and given approval by Wilson's family.
Director Jason Figgis and producer John West hope to get a network interested in screening the documentary, and say a DVD/Blu-ray release is also a possibility.
Although only about a third of a £20,000 crowdfunding target was achieved for the documentary it was able to go ahead thanks to a 'private investor' who came forward to make up the shortfall.
John is an admirer of Wilson’s work, while Jason knew Wilson and once had plans to work with him on a series with Uri Geller. Jason wrote and directed The Twilight Hour: Visions of Ireland's Haunted Past – based on photographer Simon Marsden’s book of 2003 – a copy of which Wilson received and enjoyed.
Jason and John have aimed at a 'comprehensive history' of Wilson’s life, from his early days as a disaffected teenager to the success of The Outsider and Wilson’s unexpected celebrity, to his later career as a leading philosopher of consciousness and his last days as a grand old man of English letters. Wilson’s family, people who knew him, and people deeply influenced by his work, contribute onscreen interviews to tell the story of the 'original Outsider'.

*** In a major new essay, Colin Wilson’s work is discussed for the first time in the contexts of today’s crucial scientific and philosophical debate about the nature of consciousness and of a post-materialist idealist ontology –
