* This article appeared in the Sunday Dispatch on January 15, 1961. According to Colin Stanley's The Ultimate Colin Wilson Bibliography, Wilson spent a night at a Beat commune in London as part of research for his novel Adrift in Soho. Quaintly, by today's standards, the article came to be discussed in the House of Lords where one lord thought the references to drugs might incite someone to commit an offence. He was told the article had been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions who felt there were insufficient grounds for prosecution.
